On Friday, March 15th we’re back on Potato Head Beach Club Bali to showcase the launch of Tantra’s Handbook and Tantrà’s Goods (in collaboration with Elhaus, providers of quality jeans and clothing line), and filling the opening slot for Simon Lee of the infamous British band Faze Action, known for their mix of house music with Western classical, pan-African, and Latin music, while being heavily influenced by funk, disco, and jazz. As we prepared our display booth and the visual installation for tonight’s show, the crew of Potato Head Beach Club was very helpful in our preparation. The weather, on the other hand, wasn’t rain and gale winds constantly hampered our work since midnight up until later that night, but eventually everything was set up properly by the time the sun rise. The party started at 4pm with three and a half hours of Potato Head’s resident Dean Dixon doing an excellent sun down set, warming up the dance floor through the drizzle. Meanwhile, as soon as the sun’s setting down, Tantrà’s own Johny Grim stimulates the atmosphere through the hypnotic imagery and multi-layered installation. Kai and Ones of Tantrà were up next ; Kai with his quintessential selection of rare house and disco tracks, and Ones with his barrage of Afrocentric electronic sounds, which then followed by the dynamic duo on back to back duty, filling the floor with eager party people. Then it’s time for the man of the hour Simon Lee, dropping deliciously danceable tracks after tracks, living up to the notoriety of Faze Action. By the end of his set, Bali’s own wonderboy Prakara fills in the closing slot with fiery house and electronic tracks that set the beach club ablaze, giving the night a proper Tantrà closure.
